Why watch this film?
Directed by Aline Brosh McKenna (writer for films such as Cruella and The Devil Wears Prada), this Netflix film closely follows the rom com playbook: two people meet, they get together, then split and must face a series of obstacles to be together again. Except, in Your Place or Mine, that separation period takes 20 years. Debbie (Reese Witherspoon) and peter (Ashton Kutcher) meet, spend the night together and, decades later, have each built their own lives and are now best friends. However, when he decides to exchange lives with her to take care of her son and help her take a long-deserved rest, they start to realize their feelings for each other. It’s such a typical rom com that you can see the ending coming miles away. However, it has very fun moments, so you’ll definitely enjoy it if you’re looking for no more and no less than a standard romantic comedy.

Italian filmmaker Nanni Moretti (winner of the Palme d'Or in 2001 for The Son's Room) returns with what has been called his 8½, for obvious reasons. A Brighter Tomorrow is the story of a filmmaker struggling to shoot a movie about the Hungarian Revolution, while trying to save his marriage to his producer wife. The film satirizes the current state of cinema, and perhaps indulges a bit too much in its nostalgia. It is far from the best that veteran Moretti has to offer, but if you've enjoyed his previous films, you will undoubtedly enjoy this one.
