Within the horror genre, there is a long chain of films that skillfully blur the line between the supernatural and psychological, from The Exorcist to Hereditary. The Dark and the Wicked is a production that seeks to join the list, with a story about two siblings stranded in the remote family ranch, where an unstable mother cares for a dying father. The film tackles family resentments and the trauma that comes with death, which in turn opens the door to inner darkness. It can sometimes be too ambiguous for its own good, but if you enjoy highly atmospheric horror proposals, don't miss it.

Plot summary
On a secluded farm, a man is bedridden and fighting through his final breaths while his wife slowly succumbs to overwhelming grief. Siblings Louise and Michael return home to help, but it doesn’t take long for them to see that something’s wrong with mom, something more than her heavy sorrow. Gradually, they begin to suffer a darkness similar to their mother’s, marked by waking nightmares and a growing sense that an evil entity is taking over their family.

The plot follows a woman (Carla Hernández) who, upon waking up from a prolonged coma, is confronted by a stranger (Álex Crusa) who seems to know everything about her: everything she has written on WhatsApp and Facebook, all the videos she has sent to her contacts, all the humiliating information she has said in private. From this moment on, NUDUS seems more concerned with the mystery of its characters than with the greater background of their situation, so it becomes more about the exploitation of its female protagonist than a reflection on technology and data privacy. However, despite the plot going off the rails, the situation lends itself to exemplifying a catastrophic scenario of these breaches in privacy.
