After a death-defying escape from Tweedy's farm, Ginger has finally found her dream: a peaceful sanctuary island for the entire flock, away from the dangers of the human world. When she and Rocky become the adoptive parents of a girl named Molly, Ginger's happy ending seems complete. However, back on the mainland, all chicken kind faces a new and dreadful threat. More than 20 years after the original film, Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget shows how there is still beauty and fun in this tale of chickens desperately trying to escape a tragic fate—now involving nuggets. A film that nods to the past with its stop-motion style but also looks ahead to discussions about the future, such as the quality of life for chickens.

In the story, we follow a bon-vivant rat from London who, due to an awkward flush and given at the wrong time, ends up in the never before explored sewers of the city. From there, he has to survive in this new reality. With a stop motion visual, in the style of 'Chicken Run', the feature film plays with these social class differences. The highlight are the sewer slugs, the comedic soul of the movie, who sing 'Gonna Make You Sweat' and 'Pump It' in some of the key moments of the film.

Robot Dreams
Sometimes we get so carried away by the marketing power of studios like Disney Pixar, and we overlook other avenues for deep and powerful animated stories that don't need excessively complex plots to evoke emotions. Such is the case with Robot Dreams, a Hispanic-French production directed by Pablo Berger (2012’s Snow White), based on the eponymous graphic novel by Sara Varon. Set in New York during the 80s, the story follows Dog, whose solitary life leads him to buy a robot for companionship. Their friendship grows, but an unfortunate day at the beach forces them to separate and long for the day of their reunion. Virtually without dialogue, with vibrant animation and a captivating visual language, the film tells a simple yet profoundly moving story about (curiously) human relationships and the course they take despite (or because of) accidents, fortuitous circumstances, and uncontrollable events that happen throughout life.
