Why watch this film?
With films like Three Meters Above the Sky, actor Mario Casas has established himself as one of the favorite heartthrobs of the Spanish – and global – audience. Now, he makes his directorial debut with My Loneliness Has Wings (Mi soledad tiene alas, also known in English as Caged Wings), another one of those dramas with melancholic, social, tragic, and romantic undertones. The story revolves around a young street artist (Óscar Casas, the director's brother) who, while making a living robbing jewelry stores, has a promising future. However, things take a turn for the worse when his father, who has been in prison, returns home. It's a film that deals with the end of innocence and the breaking of past patterns, somewhat melodramatic with some exaggerated flourishes, but it will leave fans of this kind of story (and the Casas clan) satisfied.
