This is the first movie from Geremy Jasper, known for directing music videos, and it has been well-received by critics. 'Patti Cake$' wears the cult and cool movie t-shirt but doesn't quite work. It's a drama that masks conservatism and reminds us of many movies about overcoming via music, like '8 Mile'. Nevertheless, the feature-length film has gone through festivals – watch it, but with an eye on the points mentioned above.
