Trailer

Why watch this film?

In 1988, the city of Spitak (also known as Gyumri or Leninakan) in Armenia experienced one of its worst moments in history. An earthquake ravaged the region and caused the death of more than 25,000 people. Directed by Russian Alexander Kott, the film, based on real accounts, narrates this sad event. The feature film is able to convey well the feelings of the protagonist Ghor, who returns to Armenia after the seismic shock, trying to find his family. 'Spitak' is a hard production, difficult to watch due to the theme, but also relevant because it is a piece of history that is often not known in the West. A curious fact is that the director wanted the actors to speak in native languages, so the film has dialogues in Russian, French and Armenian.
