Considered one of the most influential and distinctive filmmakers in history, Andrei Tarkovsky is known for a filmography that evokes metaphysical themes and profound meditations on time, memory, faith, and melancholy, through images that seek to emphasize the passage of time, time and contemplation. Within this tradition, 'Stalker' is probably the most famous and least penetrable of a filmography that barely covered a dozen feature films. Through its characters (a writer and a scientist, guided by the titular "stalker"), the film becomes a profound meditation on human consciousness, its deepest desires and its contradictions between faith and knowledge. Worthy of four awards at the Cannes Film Festival and the BAFTA for Best Foreign Film, 'The Sacrifice' is the final film of Russian filmmaker Andréi Tarkovski, one of the greatest and most influential of all time, finished while the director was fighting lung cancer (which he succumbed to a few months after its release). It is an apocalyptic and moving narrative, visually striking, which presents allegories about penitence and self-sacrifice, the human soul and its deepest desires pushed to the most radical extreme. Faithful to the contemplative cadence of its director and endowed with an extensive footage, it is a demanding movie, but undoubtedly one of the greatest works in the history of cinema, capable of remaining forever in the memory of those who dare to watch it.

Rebel Moon - Part Two: The Scargiver
It was said about the first installment, and it can be said about Netflix's Rebel Moon (Part Two): it is a movie that only Zack Snyder fans will enjoy. The film continues to be a copy of the classic 'Seven Samurai', but in space: our heroes, led by Kora (Sofia Boutella), return to their small agricultural moon to prepare the defense against the invaders from the Empire. The story unfolds in a predictable manner (even more so if you've seen Kurosawa's classic), with Snyder's usual stylistic vices: overuse of slow motion and gratuitous Christian symbolism. If you liked the previous one (or the director's other movies), you will undoubtedly enjoy it. Otherwise, it might be better to skip it.
