A woman uses Afro-Brazilian mystical religions to separate from her husband

Trailer

Why watch this film?

'AmarAção' is a movie that starts to get complicated already in the title. After all, despite proposing a pun with the word "amarração", it is very ineffective: in the joke, it is difficult to pronounce the name of the feature film and this tone of double meaning (“love” and “action”) does not exactly fit what the story wants to tell. It would be better to just call it "amarração" and that's it. But, that's the least of all the production problems: an out of tune cast, an outdated plot and, mainly, an excessively amateur tone surrounding the story of a man (Eric Belhassen, who is also director and screenwriter) who begins to hear voices and feel bad after a separation. The reason? His ex-wife would have made an amarração, one of those to hold a husband. From there, we follow the stories of this man trying to undo the spell. Belhassen complicates himself by joining so many functions around him and ends up exaggerating - he does not find the tone of the character, the story has moments that seem to come from the beginning of the 2000s and the journey of a man who tries to defeat the "evil ex" is something that no longer fits in any production. It was out of tune. We can only give a discount, to finally find some fun in 'AmarAção', when we take into account that it is a "guerrilla film", made only with own resources and filmed in 2014. Who knows, you can even see it in one situation or another. But, in general, it is a dated movie, which should only please those who seek a national comedy, focusing on the love life of a French man, without pretensions.
