Why watch this film?

Simplifying, 'Ophelia' is a retelling of Shakespeare's classic 'Hamlet', told from the perspective of the titular character, with a screenplay by acclaimed Emmy-nominated Semi Chellas ('Mad Men') and direction by Claire McCarthy ('The Luminaries'). Featuring a star-studded cast led by Daisy Ridley ('Star Wars: The Force Awakens'), Naomi Watts ('The Impossible'), Clive Owen ('Children of Men'), George MacKay ('The True History of Ned Kelly') and Tom Felton ('Harry Potter'), it's a movie with some plot flaws but whose feminist-lensed approach is fascinating and gives more depth to a classic character that otherwise would usually be nothing more than an accessory.
