Why watch this film?

Starring Toni Servillo ('The Great Beauty', 'The Divo') and Dustin Hoffman ('All the President's Men'), 'L'uomo del labirinto' is one of those suspense films that make you want to watch it right away. After all, with this veteran duo of actors, we are invited to enter a spiral of crimes involving missing children, an unsolved crime and a mysterious giant rabbit - yes, that's right, in the best 'Donnie Darko' style. But the director, screenwriter and author of the novel that the movie was inspired by, Donato Carrisi, bets on a convoluted plot and a bit too slow, which may put off viewers who expect something more intense. It's kind of like 'The Girl in the Fog', also with Servillo, but more focused on the script and the mental games of the characters. Still, good performances by Hoffman and Servillo who certainly could have had more time together on screen.
