Why watch this film?

Directed by Rodrigo Areias ("Hálito Azul"), who also co-writes the screenplay with renowned writer Valter Hugo Mãe, "Surdina" is one of those films that exudes delicacy and, above all, sensitivity. In the plot, set in a rural Portuguese town, we follow an elderly man who hears the rumor that his deceased wife was seen at the market. Bitter and sad, he chooses to hide from the rest of the world, while his friends insist that he let it go and live his life. From there, Areias builds a story about old age, memory, and above all, the difficulty of overcoming a love of so many years at a time when everything around us seems to be going away. In the cast, absolute highlight for the powerful performance of António Durães.
