From director Carine Tardieu (I Want to Be Sure), Young Lovers is a powerful drama about love in all its shades. The story follows a reunion between a man and woman, 15 years after they first met, leading to an undeniable attraction and romance. The problem: he is 45 years old and has a partner; and she, at 71 years old, must grapple with feelings she thought were no longer possible at her age. Filmed with an enviable delicacy, the movie shows both the beautiful and dark sides of their relationship and its consequences, without resorting to cheap melodrama: the story is told authentically and dignifies its characters, especially its female protagonist (wonderfully portrayed by legendary Fanny Ardant).
