Plot summary
The life of Parthenope - neither siren nor myth - from her birth in 1950 to the present day. Her long existence embodies the full repertoire of human existence: youth’s lightheartedness and its demise, classical beauty and its inexorable permutations, pointless and impossible loves, stale flirtations and dizzying passion, nighttime kisses on Capri, flashes of joy and persistent suffering, real and invented fathers, endings and new beginnings.

The Great Beauty
"A great film that won both the Golden Globe and the Oscar for Best Foreign Film. A portrait of lust, fantasy and decadence."

Loro 1
One of the greatest Italian filmmakers of all time, Paolo Sorrentino decided to stir up a hornet's nest: to tell the story of politician and former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. With a biographical approach full of luxury and good life, as already seen in 'Youth' and 'The Great Beauty', 'Loro' shows well-filmed details of the turbulent life of this beloved and hated icon of the Italian political scene. In addition to Sorrentino's good direction, which once again shows a firm grip on directing stories about the Italian upper class, highlight the striking performance of Toni Servillo ('The Great Beauty') as Berlusconi himself.

The Hand of God
It's impossible not to remember the grandeur of 'La Grande Bellezza' when mentioning the name of director Paolo Sorrentino. The Italian's cinema is marked by the influence of Federico Fellini, who always knew how to bring an absurd impact in his works, and Sorrentino manages to approach this effect. If Fellini's 'Amarcord' has an autobiographical tone, 'È stata la mano di Dio' follows the same line. The movie is very intimate, particular and beautiful - even in the saddest moments. All the suffering seems to be more bearable if you live in Naples and can take a dip to cool your head, or get excited with a goal from the Neapolitan hero Diego Maradona - even if it counts with the help of the Hand of God. All with a punctual humor, without exaggeration. If cinema is a distraction from reality, as Fellini already pointed out, may our life be full of abstractions. What Sorrentino does here is art.

The Peasants
The Peasants is an animated film by the same directors of Loving Vincent, using the same innovative technique, which could be described as "oil-painted rotoscopy". Based on the Nobel Prize-winning novel The Peasants (1904) by Władysław Reymont, it's a tale of desire and revenge told in four episodes, one for each season of the year. The story, set in Poland at the turn of the 20th century, follows a young peasant woman who wreaks havoc by marrying an older, wealthy man, whose son also desires her, despite being married. It is a powerful and bleak, although conventional tale about violence and misogyny, somewhat overshadowed by its beautiful and prodigious visual execution.

But soon, a powerful love draws them together and traps them in the tragedy of war.
