Three friends uncover an outrageous plot in New York on the eve of WWII.

Why watch this film?

What is 'Amsterdam'? "The name of the capital of the Netherlands," you must be answering. In David O. Russell's 'The Silver Linings Playbook', it takes on another meaning: a place we want to go to forget our problems, living in another reality. However, the story - set on the eve of World War II - throws up a dilemma: escaping this hard life won't erase your problems. Thus, we see the trio Christian Bale, Margot Robbie and John David Washington being forced to face, in the heart of New York and far from Amsterdam, an adventure of crime and mystery involving very powerful people. The cast also features other famous names, such as Chris Rock, Anya Taylor-Joy, Robert De Niro, Michael Shannon, Taylor Swift, Rami Malek, Mike Myers and many others. Even if it gets lost trying to mix too many elements, creating an amalgam of mystery, comedy, drama and romance, 'Amsterdam' has great art direction, the merit of setting a frighteningly current story and, above all, another great performance by Bale.
