Why watch this film?
In the second phase of the franchise, initiated by Ghost Protocol, Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation could seem less exciting. That doesn't mean it is totally so: this fifth episode of the saga follows Hunt (Tom Cruise) once again as a renegade, operating without authorization after the closure of the IMF to stop The Syndicate, an organization of corrupted agents turned into terrorists. Among the positive points is that Rogue Nation continues the narrative presented in its predecessor and introduces key characters such as Ilsa Faust (Rebecca Ferguson). Unmissable also for seeing Cruise in even more extreme risk scenes.

It seems Tom Cruise has no limits: after scaling the Burj Khalifa and getting stuck outside an airplane, the actor continues to impress with his action scenes in the thrilling Mission: Impossible 7 - Dead Reckoning, Part One. Directed once again by Christopher McQuarrie (of Side Effects), the movie follows Ethan Hunt (Cruise) on an (almost) impossible mission: facing an artificial intelligence that has the power to control anything, even governments and intelligence agencies. A kind of digital The Thing from Another World, where nobody can trust anyone outside the real or analog world, paranoia takes over the story in one of the most desperate plots of the Mission: Impossible saga - we don't even feel the more than 2h40 of movie projection. And yet, the movie still features some spectacular action scenes, such as Tom Cruise's jump from a cliff and a desperate scene inside a train, where Hunt and Grace, an excellent new character played by Hayley Atwell (Agent Carter) must survive while parts of the train collapse.

The Fall Guy is one of those films that seem designed to have it all and thus please the broadest audience possible. Based on the 1980s series of the same name and directed by David Leitch (former stunt double and now director of films like Bullet Train and Deadpool 2), the movie follows Colt Seavers (Ryan Gosling), a down-on-his-luck stunt double who must investigate the mysterious disappearance of actor Tom Ryder (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), as this would ruin the first movie of his beloved, filmmaker Jody (Emily Blunt). And the major problem with this movie is that it tries to be everything: romantic comedy, action comedy, Hollywood satire, crime mystery, and more, hampered by the magnitude of its own ambitions, as well as an overloaded and unclear script. You can enjoy it as an insight into the world behind action cinema, and for the charisma of Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt.
