Why watch this film?

Director of films such as "Albert Nobbs," "Four Good Days," and the series "Evita," "Familia" is the first Spanish-language feature film by filmmaker Rodrigo García (son of the acclaimed writer Gabriel García Márquez). The story follows a family gathering at their father Leo's ranch (Daniel Giménez Cacho, "Bardo") for a meal, but the conflict revolves around his three daughters (Natalia Solián, Ilse Salas, and Cassandra Ciangherotti) when they receive news that a buyer has made a good offer for the ranch. Thus, the daughters have a few days to decide whether to sell their legacy, the place where they grew up and that holds the memories of their late mother. "Familia" is, therefore, a somewhat typical slice-of-life drama, with an occasionally uneven script, but it is elevated by the performances of its excellent main cast.
