Why watch this film?

Manodrome is a surprising film, for better and for worse. Directed and written by John Trengove, the feature tells an unusual story: an Uber driver and aspiring bodybuilder is introduced to a libertarian cult of masculinity and loses touch with reality when his suppressed desires are awakened. Discussing the issue of problematic ideologies and the recruitment of marginalized individuals, with an intriguing performance by Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network), the film prompts discomfort while aiming to provoke these reflections in the audience. Not everything lands, but delving into this increasingly real subworld is intriguing.
