Why watch this film?
In the Land of Saints & Sinners shows that Liam Neeson hasn't given up on action cinema; he has just transformed his way of acting in shoot-'em-up films. Instead of resorting to fistfights, the Irish star seeks more reflective films where the tension arises from other points. In this Prime Video original movie, in a remote Irish village, Finbar (Neeson) is forced to fight for redemption after a lifetime of sins, but what price is he willing to pay? In the land of saints and sinners, some sins cannot be buried. An action movie with a calmer approach, like action movies after 2020, with a good performance by the Irishman, complemented by Kerry Condon (brilliant in The Banshees of Inisherin).

Plot summary
Eager to leave his dark past behind, Finbar Murphy (Liam Neeson) leads a quiet life in the remote coastal town of Glencolmcille, far from the political violence that grips the rest of 1970's Ireland. But when a menacing crew of terrorists arrive, led by a ruthless woman named Doireann (Kerry Condon), Finbar is drawn into an increasingly vicious game of cat and mouse, forcing him to choose between exposing his secret identity or defending his friends and neighbors.

The Marksman
Director Robert Lorenz has built his career around Clint Eastwood, producing films directed by the veteran since 'Blood Work' in 2002, as well as helming the interesting 'Trouble with the Curve', starring Clint -- his last as an actor under a third director. So it's no surprise that 'The Marksman' has a lot of Eastwood in it. Starring Liam Neeson (from 'Cold Pursuit'), the feature tells the story of a border resident between the United States and Mexico who finds himself, overnight, obligated to take care of a Mexican boy -- the mother died crossing and members of a cartel are after the child. From there, on one side there is the typical Neeson action with fighting, adrenaline and a dose of moments detached from current times. On the other, there is Lorenz looking for those Eastwood references by showing a conservative side of the United States, with guns and violence, but with a dose of humanity. It doesn't come close to 'Gran Torino', for example, but it's a good pastime.
