Why watch this film?
This strange movie mixes fiction and reality to a point where it is difficult to distinguish one from the other, which also raises questions about privacy and the human need to record absolutely everything. 'Offscreen' is a unique experience - it will surely remind you of Lars von Trier’s early films.

The Purity of Vengeance
The Danish police franchise 'Department Q' has gained strength in recent years with films like 'Department Q: Guardians of Lost Causes' and 'Department Q: The Absent'. Now it returns to use the classic elements of the genre's stories: desperate police officers with personal problems, having to run against time to unravel obscure crimes. In the case of this fourth chapter of the saga, 'Journal 64', the detective-protagonists must follow the thread of clues and hints to understand how three mummified corpses are connected with crimes of the past. Although with some rhythm problems, the feature film well directs the franchise and shows how the police genre, although often repetitive, can be found in the clichés and bases of the genre to reinvent itself and surprise. Highlight also for Nikolaj Lie Kaas ('Angels and Demons'), the face of the series.

A Taste of Hunger
One of the high points in the career of any professional chef is to achieve, through their restaurant, a coveted Michelin star - if three stars come, even better. The Danish drama 'Smagen af sult', starring Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Katrine Greis-Rosenthal, is precisely about this search and, finally, the effects it can have on everyone's life. Here, specifically, filmmaker Christoffer Boe (from 'Department Q: In Search of Vengeance') dives into the story of a powerful couple in the gastronomic scene who enter a spiral of desire and envy in an attempt to conquer one of these little stars. It is a movie that starts calm, with even a certain slowness, but that soon takes an unexpected direction and will surprise by its cadenced rhythm.

The Peasants
The Peasants is an animated film by the same directors of Loving Vincent, using the same innovative technique, which could be described as "oil-painted rotoscopy". Based on the Nobel Prize-winning novel The Peasants (1904) by Władysław Reymont, it's a tale of desire and revenge told in four episodes, one for each season of the year. The story, set in Poland at the turn of the 20th century, follows a young peasant woman who wreaks havoc by marrying an older, wealthy man, whose son also desires her, despite being married. It is a powerful and bleak, although conventional tale about violence and misogyny, somewhat overshadowed by its beautiful and prodigious visual execution.
