Like a Boss

Two friends start a beauty company, but have different goals and ideals.

Trailer

Why watch this film?

With a solid career as a TV series director for shows like 'Freaks & Geeks' and 'The Office', filmmaker Miguel Arteta has also created a brand in cinemas: the unpretentious comedy, with a foot in the silly humor. That's how it was with 'Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day', 'Rebel Without a Cause' and now with 'Like a Boss'. Starring Tiffany Haddish, Salma Hayek and Rose Byrne, the feature film bets on comedy of situations to make you laugh. Most of the jokes are absurd, almost out of tune, with the aim of creating a surreal atmosphere around the plot. Hayek's performance evidences this, full of mannerisms and exaggerated moments. There is, in fact, no message or depth of script. Just like 'Girls Trip' and 'Mother's Perfect', the goal is to take a peek into the female universe (from the male gaze, it should be said) and show women living and having fun at parties, intrigues and drinking - something that was exclusive to men in cinema. It's worth it for those who want to laugh without pretensions and in search of a passing entertainment, with some good laughs and a passing story.
