Why watch this film?
Zack Snyder has always been a controversial director, with as many fans as detractors of the idiosyncrasies of his films, always inspired by pop culture—mainly comics—with an almost absurd embellishment. This should be kept in mind when discussing his new space opera, Rebel Moon. Clearly inspired by Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai, this first part, A Child of Fire, follows a mysterious woman (Sofia Boutella) who, after an invasion by the authoritarian Mundo Madre in the peaceful colony where she seeks refuge, embarks on a journey to find warriors willing to confront the imperial army while facing her past. Snyder's fans will be pleasantly satisfied with the film, as it bears all his trademarks. However, those who find these trademarks excessive may want to pass: it's pure Zack Snyder, for better or for worse.
